At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Investigate the presence of hazardous drugs in the workplace;

• Evaluate the health risk associated with long term exposure to small amounts of hazardous drugs;

• Review the application of closed system transfer device technology for enhanced protection from hazardous drug exposure;

• Evaluate reasons for not utilizing a closed system transfer device;

• Challenge the issue of closed system transfer device cost;

• Analyze the use of a closed system transfer device to extend the beyond use dating for high cost single use drug products.

Pharmacy Technician Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

To obtain credit for this activity: Participants must read/study the journal article in its entirety, complete and pass the learning assessment quiz with a score of 70% or higher. Participants whom score 69% or below will be notified and permitted to retake the exam one time at no additional charge.
